Frogs have over 200 bones in their skeleton. The skeleton can be divided into two main sections: the axial skeleton (which includes the skull, vertebral column, and sternum) and the appendicular skeleton (which includes the limb and girdles). The axial skeleton supports the body and includes the backbone which is strong and short. The appendicular skeleton include their long, powerful hind limbs that are well suited for jumping and swimming. Their front limbs are shorter and used for balance and movement. The skull is broad and flat with large eye sockets, providing a wide field of vision. Frogs do not have a neck, so they cannot turn their heads. Frogs are carnivorous and are found in every continent except Antarctica.
