Red Palm Weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) [20]

“The larvae dig a hole up to 3 feet long in the trunk of palm trees! The red palm weevil can fly far in its search for more palm trees to infect. All stages of the red palm weevil’s life cycle must take place inside a palm tree.”

Red-based Jezebel (Delias pasithoe)

This insect is a member of the butterfly family and found in parts of South Asia. This artifact is a gift from the founder’s father, Ricardo Rodriguez.

This insect is a member of the butterfly family and found in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast China. This artifact is a gift from the founder’s father, Ricardo Rodriguez.

Siamese Rhinoceros Beetle (Xylotrupes gideon) [3]

“This insect is a member of the scarab beetle family and can be found in the tropics of Southeast Asia. Only the male Rhinoceros Beetle has the large horns for which it is named. It uses its big horns to knock other beetles out of the way when he is pursuing a female.”

Silver-washed fritillary (Argynnis psphia)

This common insect is a member of the butterfly family and can be found throughout Europe and parts of Japan. They are strong fliers and can be seen gliding through the canopy at high speeds. Its preferred habitat is deciduous woodlands but has also been found in coniferous forests. This artifact is a gift from the founder’s father, Ricardo Rodriguez.

Taiwan Stag Beetle (Lucanus formosanus) [16]

“This insect is a member of the beetle family and can be found in Taiwan where it lives in dead wood. The male stag beetle’s jaws are not used for biting, they’re used for fighting. The female, though, with her much smaller jaws can deliver quite a painful pinch.”

Three Horned Beetle (Strategus aloeus)

This insect is a member of the rhinoceros beetle family and is native to the Americas. This is an adult male. It has two horns behind its head and a larger horn in the center.
